The Saint Barth Film Festival “Cinéma Caraïbes” is back after a two-year absence due to the Covid pandemic. On May 4-7, 2022, the festival will celebrate its 25th anniversary, which did not take place as planned in 2020, or again in 2021.
Four feature-length films are on the program for the 25th St Barth Film Festival, including two documentaries. The first two films will be shown on May 4 and 5 at AJOE in Lorient, while the films on May 6 and 7 will be shown on the dock in Gustavia, pending approval from the Collectivity.

No Bois Man No Fraid est un long métrage documentaire consacré au combat au bâton kalinda à Trinité-et-Tobago. Réalisé par Christopher Laird, le film met en scène Keegan Taylor et Rondel Benjamin, deux jeunes experts en arts martiaux originaires de Trinité-et-Tobago.
Dans ce documentaire inspirant et révélateur, ils partent à la découverte de leurs racines en s'initiant à l'art martial local qu'est le combat au bâton. Au cours de cette aventure, ils bénéficient des conseils de légendes vivantes telles que Congo Bara, King Stokely et King Kali, et se lancent dans la compétition pour participer aux championnats nationaux annuels de combat au bâton.
Au cours des 50 dernières années, Christopher Laird a produit plus de 300 documentaires, fictions et autres productions vidéo avec Banyan Ltd., qui lui ont valu une multitude de prix nationaux, régionaux et internationaux.
Il a supervisé la création de la plus grande collection numérisée au monde de vidéos sur la culture caribéenne, conservée au sein des archives Banyan. En 2003, il a fondé, avec Errol Fabien, Gayelle, la première chaîne de télévision en clair entièrement consacrée aux Caraïbes. En 2009, il s'est vu décerner un doctorat honoris causa par l'Université des Indes occidentales. En 2024, il a reçu une distinction nationale des mains du président de Trinité-et-Tobago, la médaille Chaconia d'Or. Il a été intronisé au Panthéon de la Caribbean Broadcasting Union ainsi que par CaribbeanTales à Toronto, Candada.

No Bois Man No Fraid is a feature-length documentary film on Kalinda stick fighting in Trinidad and Tobago. Directed by Christopher Laird, the film stars Keegan Taylor and Rondel Benjamin, young martial arts experts from Trinidad and Tobago.
In this uplifting and eye-opening documentary, they embark on a discovery of their roots by setting out to learn the local martial art of stickfighting. In the process, they receive guidance from living legends such as Congo Bara, King Stokely and King Kali, and set out to compete in the annual national stickfighting championships.
Christopher Laird has produced over 300 documentaries, dramas, and other video productions with Banyan Ltd. over the past 50 years, garnering a score of national, regional, and international awards.
He has overseen the establishment of the world’s largest digitised collection of Caribbean culture on video in the Banyan Archive. In 2003 he founded, with Errol Fabien, the region’s first all Caribbean free to air television station, Gayelle. In 2009 he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of the West Indies. In 2024 he was awarded a National Award by the President of Trinidad & Tobago, The Chaconia Medal, Gold. He has been inducted into the Hall of Fame by the Caribbean Broadcasting Union and also by CaribbeanTales in Toronto, Canada.
