The Saint Barth Film Festival “Cinéma Caraïbes” is back after a two-year absence due to the Covid pandemic. On May 4-7, 2022, the festival will celebrate its 25th anniversary, which did not take place as planned in 2020, or again in 2021.
Four feature-length films are on the program for the 25th St Barth Film Festival, including two documentaries. The first two films will be shown on May 4 and 5 at AJOE in Lorient, while the films on May 6 and 7 will be shown on the dock in Gustavia, pending approval from the Collectivity.

End Of The Road explore le travail époustouflant du célèbre photographe sous-marin Ben Thouard, qui s'aventure sous les vagues massives pour en capturer la beauté brute. Avec pour toile de fond Teahupo'o, Tahiti, et les débuts très attendus du surf aux Jeux olympiques de 2024, le film braque également les projecteurs sur la communauté locale, avec des interviews de personnalités notables comme le médaillé d'or olympique Kauli Vaast.
Dirk Braun est un cinéaste et photographe américain installé à Malibu, en Californie. Son travail, souvent réalisé en collaboration avec des marques internationales renommées, a été exposé et collectionné dans des espaces publics et privés du monde entier.
Saint-Barth a joué un rôle important dans l'élaboration de sa vision créative. Il a visité l'île pour la première fois alors qu'il était bébé, et elle est restée une grande source d'inspiration depuis lors. Une photographie particulièrement symbolique le montre bébé, suspendu dans les bras de sa mère, regardant un De Havilland Twin Otter s'approcher de l'aéroport emblématique de l'île. Elle préfigure de manière poétique le parcours de sa vie : la fusion d'une passion pour le vol, la narration et l'art visuel en une carrière singulière de photographe, de cinéaste et de pilote.

End Of The Road explores the breathtaking work of acclaimed underwater photographer Ben Thouard as he ventures beneath massive waves to capture their raw beauty. Set against the backdrop of Teahupo’o, Tahiti, and surfing’s much-anticipated debut at the 2024 Olympics, the film also shines a spotlight on the local community, featuring interviews with notable figures like Olympic gold medalist Kauli Vaast.
Dirk Braun is an American filmmaker and photographer based in Malibu, California. His work, often created in collaboration with renowned global brands, has been exhibited and collected in both public and private spaces around the world.
St. Barth has played a significant role in shaping his creative vision. He first visited the island as a baby, and it has remained a large inspiration ever since. One particularly symbolic photograph shows him as an infant, suspended in his mother’s arms, watching a De Havilland Twin Otter approach the island’s iconic airport. It stands as a poetic foreshadowing of his life’s journey—blending a passion for flight, storytelling, and visual art into a singular career as a photographer, filmmaker, and pilot.
