The Saint Barth Film Festival “Cinéma Caraïbes” is back after a two-year absence due to the Covid pandemic. On May 4-7, 2022, the festival will celebrate its 25th anniversary, which did not take place as planned in 2020, or again in 2021.
Four feature-length films are on the program for the 25th St Barth Film Festival, including two documentaries. The first two films will be shown on May 4 and 5 at AJOE in Lorient, while the films on May 6 and 7 will be shown on the dock in Gustavia, pending approval from the Collectivity.

Après dix ans passés aux États-Unis, Asori Soto décide de retourner à Cuba, sa terre natale, pour retrouver les saveurs de son enfance. Ce voyage l'emmène à la découverte de traditions culinaires longtemps considérées comme perdues, victimes des épreuves endurées par Cuba après l'effondrement de l'Union soviétique.
Cuban Food Stories est un film unique qui explore la gastronomie, la société et la culture cubaines. À travers neuf récits, Asori Soto explore le paysage culinaire actuel de son pays et nous offre un aperçu de son avenir. C'est un road trip personnel à travers l'île, à la découverte des histoires les plus authentiques de la cuisine cubaine.
Un film qui offre un accès inédit à des régions si reculées qu'on ne peut y accéder qu'en radeau, à cheval ou à la nage. Un voyage qui vous mettra l'eau à la bouche, depuis les contrées les plus reculées jusqu’aux grandes villes, pour découvrir une Cuba fascinante en pleine mutation.
Joey Carey est un producteur-réalisateur, cofondateur de Sundial Pictures.
Sa passion pour le cinéma lui vient de son père, le documentariste Tobe Carey.
Après avoir obtenu son diplôme du Hampshire College, Joey a enseigné à l'Académie du cinéma d'Athènes, en Grèce, aux côtés du producteur Norman I. Cohen, avant de retourner à New York pour fonder Sundial Pictures.
Sundial Pictures a présenté ses films aux festivals de Sundance, de Berlin, de Tribeca et Toronto, et a collaboré avec des sociétés de distribution telles que A24, Neon, Magnolia Pictures, Focus Features, Samuel Goldwyn et Oscilloscope.
Joey Carey a travaillé sur des films de fictions et des documentaires, où il a été réalisateur, producteur, directeur de la photographie ou monteur.
Parmi ses films, on compte This Much We Know (2022), This Organic Life (2022), Los Ultimos Frikis (2019), Amazing Grace (2018) et, bien sûr, Cuban Food Stories qu'il a produit en 2018.

After ten years living as an expat in the United States, Asori Soto decides to return to his homeland of Cuba to search for the missing flavors of his childhood. This is a journey to discover culinary traditions long thought lost due to the hardship that Cuba survived after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Cuban Food Stories is a unique film about food, society, and culture on the island of Cuba. Through nine stories, Asori Soto explores the present culinary landscape of his homeland and provides a glimpse into what the future may hold. It is a personal road-trip adventure all around the island to discover the most authentic tales behind the Cuban cuisine.
The film gives unprecedented access to regions so remote that one can only arrive by raft, horseback, or swimming. A journey that will leave your mouth watering as we go from the middle of nowhere to the big cities and rediscover the culinary roots of an exciting Cuba in a time of change.
Joey Carey is a Producer/Director and founding partner of Sundial Pictures. His love of filmmaking began with his father, documentary filmmaker Tobe Carey.
After graduating from Hampshire College, Joey taught at the Academy of Cinema in Athens, Greece with producer Norman I. Cohen, before returning to New York City to start Sundial Pictures. Sundial Pictures has premiered films at Sundance, Berlin, Tribeca, and Toronto, and partnered with distribution companies such as A24, Neon, Magnolia Pictures, Focus Features, Samuel Goldwyn, and Oscilloscope.
Joey Carey has worked on films across a variety of genres, both scripted and documentary, and filled a range of roles from Director, Producer, Cinematographer, and Editor.

When not working in film, he spends his time helping grow the sustainable slow-fashion brand “Dador” in Havana, Cuba.
